Claude and ChatGPT for Business: New Features and Security Settings

Stick with the basics, but here is what is worth knowing about the two I actually pay for.

It feels like there are changes every day with AI and it is hard to keep up, especially if you are running a business, working, or just trying to get on with life.

It is always good to experiment and stay curious, but if you are short on time, stick with the basics and whatever works best for you. My favourite paid go-tos are still ChatGPT and Claude, so this is what has changed in both, and the settings I would check before connecting either one to anything important.

1. Claude Design

If you are an active paid Claude user, have you played around with Claude Design yet? It launched in April and has had updates since, and the results are getting stronger by the week.

You describe what you want and it builds a working version rather than an image of one. The templates on the opening screen are Slides, Document, Wireframe, Animation, Mobile app design, UI mockups, Résumé, 3D object, Research, HTML email, and Colour and type pairing. Or start blank and describe it.

The mobile app template gives you something you can tap through. The HTML email template is what I use to build these emails.

Two settings are worth changing before you start, and most people never touch either one.

2. Recording a task so Claude can repeat it

In the Claude desktop app, under Cowork, there is a "Record a skill" option in the + menu. You record your screen while you do a task, talk through your decisions as you go, and Claude turns the recording into a skill it can run again.

The narration does most of the work. Saying "if this field is empty, skip the row" out loud teaches Claude the exception. A silent click-through teaches it very little.

This is for the task you do every week and have never managed to hand over: the weekly report, the invoice chase, the file renaming. It is on Pro, Max and Team plans.

3. Shorter prompts are working better

Boris Cherny, who created Claude Code, gave an interview at Y Combinator Startup School shortly after Claude Opus 5 shipped in July. His advice: delete your saved instructions every six months and see what the model does without them.

The reasoning is that most long instruction sets were written to compensate for weaknesses in older models. The weaknesses are gone. The instructions are still there, making the output worse.

He is talking to developers about configuration files, but it applies to anyone with a folder of prompts from last year. Try the task with a direct request instead. Give it the goal, the constraints and what a good result looks like. Save a copy of your old prompts before you delete anything.

OpenAI has added higher reasoning settings, but where they appear depends on which ChatGPT you are using, and this is where a lot of the advice online falls down.

So if a video has told you to switch on Ultra and you cannot find it, it is not there. What you can do in the standard app is stop leaving it on the default for work that needs more than that.

Everything above works better with access to your email, files and browser. That is the point of them, and it is also the risk.

The mechanism to understand is prompt injection. Someone hides instructions inside an email, a webpage, a document or a downloadable tool. Those instructions are written for the AI. If it reads them and follows them, it can take actions you never asked for, using access you already granted.

None of this means avoiding the tools. It means asking one question before you connect anything: does it need that much access to do the job you are asking of it? Usually not.
